Yesterday we heard Anna Wintour tell us that "jeans and a t-shirt can be equally fashionable as an Oscar de la Renta ballgown," but we have a hunch that UK label Swash may not agree. Designed by Central St. Martins graduates Sarah Swash and Toshio Yamanaka, Swash is all about a return to feminine formality. For s/s '09, the designers focused on dramatic, flora and fauna prints, contrasted against creamy ivory, in simple feminine cuts. Truly a nod to the English gardens, the printed frocks are at once grown-up and lady-like, but also rather romantic, and whimsical in nature. We could totally see ourselves meandering through some fabulous rose garden in the British countryside, in that delightful a-line dress... and as for that ivory trench, definitely a perfect city coverup... meaning that come summer, we'll be sure to look to Swash for a little warm-weather wardrobe update.
