If last week's inclement weather (where have you gone, love?) put springtime brights on our radar, the latest photos to surface of McCarren Park Pool renovations just launched a 1000 gym memberships bikinis! The pool looks just about ready to rumble after it was totally closed off for construction in 2008, ending forever its non-swimming stints as abandoned lot/graffiti canvas/crack den, and, most recently, totally awesome free concert hall aka McCarren Park "Pool Parties". After four summers and $55 million in the pot, the space is finally getting back to origins. Plus the serious refit is also going retro to recall the spot's prewar glory days as a summertime hub, like back when Laguardia meant the mayor and WPA wasn't West Palo Alto. Think we'll break out the old-school high-waisters for this one! (Gothamist)
