
Yesterday, Diane von Furstenberg threw a fashion-show-slash-blowout-birthday-bash for her iconic wrap dress. And, unlike most 40th birthdays, this was no sedate affair. With Karen Elson, Joan Smalls, and a gaggle of adoring supermodels at her side, von Furstenberg blew out the candles, was showered with gold confetti, and the crowd commenced to — what else? — shake it to a live performance by St. Vincent. It may have been unlike any other 40th-birthday party we've been to, but this shindig was certainly a fitting tribute to a forever-young classic.
