There’s nothing quite like ending the day with a nice glass of vino, and according to the American Wine Consumer Coalition, no one knows this better than Washingtonians and Virginians. In a new survey, the Coalition graded all 50 states and the District based on residents' access to wine — taking into consideration laws on wine sales and the ability to have wine shipped to your home. And D.C.-area residents should count themselves pretty lucky. Turns out, D.C. and Virginia are tied for the number-one spot when it comes to the best locales for wine drinkers. But while the District and Virginia both scored A+’s, Maryland lags way behind with a D+. The news also entitles us to some serious gloating to our Cali friends — Napa who? Time to crack open a bottle, swirl, and salut — hey, it’s five o’clock somewhere. (Washingtonian)
